Nutritional Therapy

What is functional nutritional therapy?
It is a ROOT CAUSE approach focused on getting to the bottom of the WHY so that the symptoms being experienced can be resolved in the LONG TERM.
How does it help?
get clear answers using the latest in functional testing (gut microbiome, food allergies / sensitivities, hormone and adrenal health, nutritional blood chemistry analysis)
hormonal imbalances (PCOS, amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, andropause, perimenopause, menopause, fertility challenges)
digestive symptoms - gas, bloating, constipation or diarrhoea
restore function from IBS, Crohn’s, Colitis, SIBO
blood sugar dysregulation or sugar cravings
candida, parasites, gut dysbiosis
brain fog, mood disturbances, low energy
frustration that you just can't seem to get anywhere
confusion about what the heck to eat
Functional Nutritional therapy gives you the tools so you can bring your body Back to Balance.
Nutritional therapy offers a multitude of benefits by leveraging the power of diet to enhance health and combat disease. This evidence-based approach tailors dietary interventions to individual needs, addressing deficiencies and optimizing nutrient intake for improved physiological function. The health of the gut microbiome plays a crucial role in mental health, as a balanced gut flora can influence mood, anxiety, and cognitive function through the gut-brain axis. Specifically, during menopause and perimenopause, tailored dietary interventions can alleviate symptoms like hot flashes, mood swings, sleep disturbances, and weight gain by addressing hormonal imbalances and supporting overall well-being. It can significantly improve chronic conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and gastrointestinal disorders, while also supporting mental health by stabilizing blood sugar levels and promoting neurotransmitter production essential for mood regulation. Additionally, nutritional therapy strengthens the immune system, enhances energy levels, and promotes longevity by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation. By focusing on a balanced diet with whole foods, lean proteins, and healthy fats, nutritional therapy fosters holistic well-being, empowering individuals to manage their health proactively and enhance their quality of life.
Working at the root cause level involves comprehensively digging through your health history, and symptoms and where necessary, ordering functional laboratory tests. The process leaves no stone unturned, with a focus on making sure you are SEEN and HEARD. It uncovers your long and short term health goals and from that evolves a practical plan to get you there… WITHOUT feeling stressed and deprived!

GI Healing and Food Sensitivities
Training in Mastering the Art and Science of Gastrointestinal Healing equipped me with advanced clinical tools such as lab testing, results interpretation, and customized protocol development to resolve even the most complicated gastrointestinal issues.
I restore GI function and integrity through testing and interpretation of comprehensive stool analysis, GI-MAP, H. pylori and SIBO testing and have a thorough understanding of the various testing methods for food reactions and use the exclusive RWS approach to healing food sensitivities once and for all.
The missing link: In my work we always assess and address the emotional components that impact cellular health and behaviour!
Optimizing Hormones
Mastering the Art and Science of Optimizing Hormones gave me the tools to uncover and correct imbalances that are driving hormonal dysfunction using salivary testing and the DUTCH test.
The elephant in the room, the Stress Factor! I assess and optimize adrenal and HPA Axis function, assess and rebalance male hormones, identify and resolve causes of androgen imbalances, “male menopause”, and infertility.
The Female Cycle: I restore balance in cycling female hormones from PMS to PCOS to fertility. Newsflash - you do not have to put up with a heavy, painful cycle!!! It is not normal, it is not just your cycle!
Reclaiming Healthy Menopause: I evaluate and support hormonal balance and bone health for true vitality.

Nutritional Blood Chemistry
In Mastering the Art and Science of Nutritional Blood Chemistry I developed the skills to interpret standard blood chemistry panels from a nutritional perspective.
Covering a broad range of markers, including regulating blood sugar handling from hypoglycemia to Type II Diabetes, cardiovascular function, identification of anemias and other nutritional deficiencies, including dehydration. Thyroid regulation, physiology, metabolism, and clinical applications. How to strengthen and modulate the immune system, including stealth pathogens, and the forgotten detoxification organs: evaluating and supporting the renal system.
A wonderful tool for ongoing health, I recommend all my clients do a full panel of nutritional bloods as a part of their annual check up.
What to expect from a nutritional therapy consultation?

Prior to your first session, your Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner will ask you to fill out some paperwork:
An initial interview form with general questions about your goals, current health and medical history.
Food, Mood and Poo diary for three to seven days.
A disclaimer, so you know exactly what your NTP is certified to help you with.
At the initial consultation the paperwork is reviewed with you and further information is gathered about your history. We will also discuss at this point any functional testing that would be appropriate to your personal circumstances and journey.
A Metabolic Questionnaire will also be completed after your initial appointment, this provides a baseline analysis of your body systems and allows us to monitor progress that you make at future appointments. Your unique circumstances will also direct any other investigations that are appropriate for you.
